Orchard - Mimicry (12") - Hobby Industries (HI 003) ------------------------------------------------------- Third release on the Denmark-based Hobby Industries label following the Goodiepal 12" (which was excellent btw) and the Opiate LP. Orchard is Lars Bo Jandrup, living in Copenhagen, Denmark. "Mimicry" is his first release. 6 very nice, melodic instrumental tracks with downtempo electro-like beats, sometimes reminded me of Phonem. Recommended for those who like Skam, Isophlux, Morr Music, ... Conclusion : get it if you can http://www.hobbyind.com/ Bola - Mauver (12"/CDm) - Skam (SKA 015) ----------------------------------------------- It's Bola ! It's on Skam ! It's finally available after several weeks of delay ! Euh ... enough hype now. "Mauver" is the first "back to the roots" Skam-release after the, well, "strange" Wevie Stonder maxi. 4 new tracks by Darrell "Bola" Fitton after the classic "Soup" LP. More experimentation with vocals and rhythms. "Mauver" has harsh beats and features Dennis Bourne of Apollo Creed on rap-like vocals. Not my cup of tea. "Para Qweqway" (strange title btw) and "Vespers" ("for lost friends" as the sleeve notes say) are much better with those typical Bola-rhythms and synth flows. "Syblex" is the most experimental track with messed-up vocal samples and computergame-like sounds. Conclusion: a disappointment after all that waiting. http://www.skam.co.uk/ http://www.biteit.net/bola/ (still under construction) Snd - Systems Medley (7") - City Centre Offices (BLOCK 004) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Fifth release on the Berlin/Manchester based City Centre Offices label after 7"s by Arovane, Fizzarum and Solvent/Lowfish and a 12" by Herrmann & Kleine. 750 pressings on black vinyl. Side A is a minimal "clicks & cuts" track with those typical deep pulsating Snd beats. Side B has 8 locked grooves and is a nice DJ-tool. Conclusion : different from the other releases on the label. Recommended if you like Snd-like minimalism. http://www.city-centre-offices.de/ Pole - Pole (12") - Kiff SM (KIFF 016) ----------------------------------------- After the "blue" and "red" releases, a new "yellow" 12". Well, what can I say ... It's Pole ! Deep and dubby, clicks and pops, distorted synth sounds ... As long as he doesn't start releasing 25 of these ... Conclusion : very recognizable, nothing new Btw does anybody know if Kiff SM has a website ? Multiplex - Area To Area (LP) - Toytronic (TOY 4) ----------------------------------------------------- Fourth release on the London-based Toytronic label. The track "Caps Lock" can also be found on the Toytronic compilation EP "Signalflow". Don't know much about Multiplex. Fact is that this LP is an absolute must-have for those who like playful IDM-drill'n'bass. References : Gimmik (if you liked "Random Access", you will like this), µ-Ziq/Planet µ, Jega. Conclusion : excellent ! http://www.crosswinds.net/~toytronic/ ---------------------------------------------------------- IDM Warp Zone : http://users.skynet.be/idmwarpzone/ mail : idmwarpzone@yahoo.com ___________________ h o p e n e v e r d i e s --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
